Dating past land changes in a Kyrgyz pine forest
EVENTS
As part of our paleoclimate exploration in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, we carried out a sampling of tree-rings from Pine trees for dendrochronological purposes.

The pristine forest located in the Issyk-Kul region presented signs of frequent past rock fallings which have altered the morphology and tree dynamics in the area. In this context, 11 trees were sampled (2 cores per tree) with a Haglöf Pressler increment borer and their respective last 3- year needles collected for dendrogeomorphological and ecological studies.

Our main objective will be to determine past landslides bringing debri materials to the forest and their physiological effects employing standard dendrochronological methods, stable isotopes and phytoliths.
